SELF HELP GROUPS FOR WOMEN/ARTISANS

Nari Chetna Sangthan strongly believes that vocational education without the inputs and knowledge of how to convert the skills into employment/self employment opportunities is not meaningful. Promoting entrepreneur-ship and enterprise development is high on the policy agenda of the organisation.

Women are facing problems like unemployment, discrimination, domestic violence etc. They are also deprived of their basic needs such as Health, Nutrition and Education.

Most of the women are not able to achieve most of the things because they are unaware. If the women want to achieve self- esteem, self- confidence, better status, success in life she should be aware about her rights and responsibilities. Women have capacities potential and enough energy to modify things. But they are not aware about their potentials and capacities.

Besides savings and loan activity these groups serve as a forum for the poor woman to:

Job placement and self employment opportunities to the passed out trainees:-

Placement is an integral part of the organisation. The placement by any organisation is an indicator of the quality of vocational training center. The organisation has complete infrastructure and mechanism for effective monitoring and keeping track record of the passed out beneficiaries. The programme functionaries coordinate with the corporate sector and provides well-developed infrastructure to facilitate the campus selection programmes. Training activities are organized throughout the year in an effort towards preparing the prospective students for the selection programmes.

We are already in contact with MNC’s & various other small & large companies for their specific and customized recruitments. The students are trained to appear for interviews which would enable them to be confident and also make them aware of the evaluation processes for various job prospects.

The student community faces considerable confusion with regard to choice of courses that would lead them to successful careers. In case the student chooses a profession, which doesn’t match his personality or intelligence, or in areas he/she is not interested, then all his/her preparation would be a waste and he/she may end up as a poor performer and with no job satisfaction. The Career choice that we make is more or less irrevocable. Career Choices, in our country are usually made when the students enter the Xth grade or when they enter college. It is 0then; they are confused to decide on courses/ careers. At such difficult, crucial decision making circumstances, career counseling comes to the aid of students and guides them to choose the right career path.
